EFFECTS OF MINING, IT'S IMPORTANCE, BAD EFFECTS, AND SOLUTIONS
We all know the importance of mining for the economy of the country, but since last few years in some parts of the country the mining activities are been stopped by the government.
Open any newspaper today, or listen to the news on T.V. What is it all about? Mining! Mining! and more Mining! Such a simple topic yet it has had such a deep impact on so many people and,the environment as well.
Mining is definitely a profit making business. A lot of money is earned not only by the owners of the mines but also by those involved in the transportation of the ore. Mining is also a source of income to those arranging housing, food and even entertainment to all those people who work in the mines.
Effects of mining
But mining has had a disastrous effect on the surroundings and on the people living in the vicinity. Mining leads to the destruction of the environment in many ways. Forests are destroyed, fields become barren, water is polluted, large areas of land are converted into mining dumps, the list is endless. The dust in the air causes breathing problems and other such health related diseases. The dust settles over the vegetation, water bodies and fine particles remain suspended in air. So how can we solve this problem?Of course, mining is a major source of revenue to our state and it has to continue.
Solutions to the problem
Do checks and balances. Afforestation should be encouraged. Also, there should be a limit to the area under mining.
Mine owners should follow all the rules that has been passed by the government over the extraction of metals and other components from the soil.
